Wishful Thinking!

Her calm, unwavering eyes were fixed on the sky for hours. Don’t know whether it was her desire or longing for someone, but Megha was lost in her own world — unaware of her surroundings, people, and all the hustle bustle.
A sudden jolt of vibration, which brought her back to the real world, diverted her eyes from the sky and mind from thoughts. Her phone's ringtone woke her up and as soon as she took out her phone from the purse, her heart skipped a beat. “This must be some dream?” she muttered.
She gasped for breath and mustered the courage to take the call — staring at her phone screen in disbelief — but just then a hand fell on her shoulder. A girl, the person she rushed into this evening while marching in haste to grab her favorite sitting spot, was smiling while looking at her, and even before Megha could utter a word, the girl spoke.  “Sorry yaar, just realized that our phones got exchanged when we collided,” said she while handing over a phone to Megha — the exact replica Megha herself owned.
Everything fell in place instantly for Megha then. “Yes, you are right. This must be your phone. This can’t be mine,” said Megha while exchanging phones. Her their eyes met with that of the girl, and a faint smile ran across Megha’s face, but she could not hide moisture in her eyes—sun rays falling straight on her face too exposed the very emotion she had.
Megha was standing still, looking back and forth, from her phone screen to the sky, and she heard that girl’s voice again, “Yes Papa, where are you?”
Megha quickly moved out of that place with a hopeful wish. Maybe the phone will ring again, Maybe same name will flash on her phone’s screen now.
“I will pick up the call without fail,” she told her heart.
Her brain jostled her back to real life — you know the truth sweetheart. “Yes, I do,” she said to herself while looking up at the sky again, with the moisture still glued to her eyes, and eyes glued to the phone screen.

Ah! Times when human so wants to ditch unanimous universal rules and truths

  1. we loose then whom we love most.
and lost in a way, we can never get them back, physically.
What is left is the affection and love.

Jai Ho Gulzar!

Everyone is praising Gulzar for his beautiful composition 'Jai Ho', the song which has suddenly become kinda national anthem for all--more so ever since we got an Oscar for it. People of all age groups seem to be smitten by this song, they are using it as their ringtone/caller tune, politicians are using it as a slogan (you know i even heard (may be read) somewhere that someone from Congress is trying to approach Gulzar. what for? For penning down slogans/songs for their election campaign. I don't know if it is true, but if it is then ...let's not even go there). But I was just wondering, is 'Jai Ho' one of the best that Gulzar ever wrote. I don't think so. No, not that I didn't like the song, I really liked it. But this is not the best that he has ever written. No, I have nothing against Gulzar (if that is what you could get from my statement); he is a legend who have had always been my all time favorite lyricist. He has given us a whole bunch of beauti...

A beautiful poem by Nida Fazli

और फिर यूँ हुआ

Since childhood, I used to wonder what makes people fall in love: physical attraction or the emotional connection? I asked different people and got different answers, but none appealed to me. No, I never had my own perception of this riveting emotion, but still explanations and words on Love were nothing but mere fiction for my naïve mind. However, as I grew up and started to understand life and emotions slightly better, I recognized my love: Words. People, places never made it to my heart, but beautiful words describing moments, people, emotions, telling stories, always made my heart skip a beat. Word had such a mesmerizing effect on me. Didn’t matter who said what, to whom or where, the only thing which mattered was how beautiful the lines I heard or read or listened are.  And then I decided to explore my love for words and found my Neverland—a place that was exclusively mine and I could belong to. In this neverland, my dreams resided, thoughts danced, and my SELF lived—fre...
